False Witness

From Obama's speech at Notre Dame this afternoon:

"But remember, too, that you can be a crossroads. Remember, too, that the ultimate irony of faith is that it necessarily admits doubt. It's the belief in things not seen. It's beyond our capacity as human beings to know with certainty what God has planned for us or what He asks of us. And those of us who believe must trust that His wisdom is greater than our own."

I have no doubts in my faith.

I believe in one God the Father, the Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen and unseen.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son). With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

We DO know what God has planned for us and we DO know what God has asked of us. It's all in The Holy Bible, chapter and verse, Old and New Testaments, it's expressed through the celebration of the Mass and in the homily.

Obama bore false witness against God.

Obama twisted and maligned over two thousand years of Christian teaching to fit his narrow view and pronounced his words as the true gospel. As if he were the all-knowing and benevolent preacher.

Not a single bishop, priest, or student stood up to tell Obama he was wrong. It reminded me of my days in Catholic school when my teacher-priest put me in detention because I had dared to correct his incorrect teaching of the Immaculate Conception, informing my forty-years-ordained Catholic priest, in front of the class, it was the conception of Mary, not Jesus, which was considered immaculate. How did that priest ever make it through the seminary if he was ignorant about the Immaculate Conception?

My lay Catholic and Notre Dame-graduated principal, who has now returned to a high-level teaching position at Notre Dame, backed up the priest.

I have answered my own question.

"... We know these things; and hopefully one of the benefits of the wonderful education that you've received here at Notre Dame is that you've had time to consider these wrongs in the world; perhaps recognized impulses in yourself that you want to leave behind. You've grown determined, each in your own way, to right them. And yet, one of the vexing things for those of us interested in promoting greater understanding and cooperation among people is the discovery that even bringing together persons of good will, bringing together men and women of principle and purpose -- even accomplishing that can be difficult.

... The question, then -- the question then is how do we work through these conflicts? Is it possible for us to join hands in common effort? As citizens of a vibrant and varied democracy, how do we engage in vigorous debate? How does each of us remain firm in our principles, and fight for what we consider right, without, as Father John said, demonizing those with just as strongly held convictions on the other side?

... And this doubt should not push us away our faith. But it should humble us. It should temper our passions, cause us to be wary of too much self-righteousness. It should compel us to remain open and curious and eager to continue the spiritual and moral debate that began for so many of you within the walls of Notre Dame. And within our vast democracy, this doubt should remind us even as we cling to our faith to persuade through reason, through an appeal whenever we can to universal rather than parochial principles, and most of all through an abiding example of good works and charity and kindness and service that moves hearts and minds."

These are the three occasions Obama spoke of "principle" in his speech today, in their entirety, in context.

I find it despicable that Obama had the temerity to stand within the bounds of a Catholic univeristy, one of the most prestigious in the nation, if not the world, and use it as a stage for his radical and extreme propaganda.

Alright, for the sake of argument, let's say Obama is a man of principle. His own twisted, evil, and disgusting principle.

Obama is so principled and committed to ensuring the death of infants born alive of botched abortions, he was the lone voice speaking out on the Senate floor to ensure the life-saving measures given to these infants would be discontinued.

Four times.

Out of a fifty-nine member Senate, Obama was the only one that had enough principle to stand up and demand infants born alive of botched abortions be denied medical care/treatment.

Obama is that committed to ending an infant's life that he, and he alone, stood up. Completely alone, standing only on his personal principle, on his personal belief, on his personal ethics, four times, to speak and vote against the support of the Infants Born Alive Act!

That is a man of principle and character. Despicable principle and character.

Even radical pro-choice organizations turned away from Obama on this one.

Obama, Senate floor, 2001: Number one, whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we’re really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a – a child, a nine-month-old – child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place. I mean, it – it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an antiabortion statute.

Obama, Senate floor, 2002: [A]dding a – an additional doctor who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion. … I think it’s important to understand that this issue ultimately is about abortion and not live births.

Obama wants to decry and forbid enhanced interrogation techniques, he calls it "torture"? Is the injection of saline chemicals into the womb of a living infant, meant to caustically burn the infant to death, not a form of torture? Have you seen the videos of that happening? What happens to a human child in the womb when that womb is flooded with pure saline? THAT is torture.

Is leaving that infant to die, after delivery from the "failed" abortion and now a completely separate and individual human being, no longer dependent on the mother's womb, not a form of torture? Isn't that now-separate and individual infant protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, and that, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a – a child, a nine-month-old – child that was delivered to term?

According to Obama's "principles", they are not. Infants born alive of "failed" abortions and no longer dependent upon their "mothers" are to be considered abortions. Obama's principle is: A woman should get the abortion she paid for - nothing more.

From Obama's Illinois Senate days; how extreme and radical is Obama's position on abortion? He had his wife use the ban on partial birth abortion (sucking the brains out of half-delivered babies) as a scare tactic and fundraising ploy:

Dear Friends:

We have all been concerned lately with the rise of conservatism in this country, especially as it relates to women. You’ve read the alarming news about the Justice Department’s request for hospitals to turn over the private medical records of dozens of patients. This cynical ploy is designed to intimidate a group of physicians and force them to drop their lawsuit seeking to have the so-called partial birth abortion ban ruled unconstitutional.

The fact remains, with no provision to protect the health of the mother, this ban on a legitimate medical procedure is clearly unconstitutional and must be overturned. Attorney General Ashcroft and president bush believe so zealously in their cause that the privacy rights of patients are under assault. They believe we have no federal right to privacy when it concerns our medical histories.

On March 16th, we have a chance to nominate a candidate who will be tireless in the fight to protect women. It isn’t simply about the right to choose, or privacy rights. It is about pay equity, about ending domestic violence, promoting health care around the world, and letting doctors decide treatment options, not federal judges.

It goes without saying that we must win back the U.S. Senate and hold our ground as a check against the right-wing executive branch. Illinois will be a key battleground and your vote is critical.

My husband has stood up for women time and again, and I am proud of his record. He understands that casting a vote on the floor of the Senate takes greater courage than issuing a position paper. Oftentimes, a well intentioned law is in fact a flawed law. That’s why it is critical we nominate someone who has faced these tough choices. That’s why nominating an experienced legislator is so important in this race. It takes courage to cast a vote.

Who among the Democrats running has a proven record? Who among the candidates running for the Senate in Illinois has stood up to the right wing politicians and voted against their agenda? Who can we count on to keep the Bush/Ashcroft team from appointing the Supreme Court Justice that will vote against Roe v. Wade?

Please join me in sending a message of unity and strength by attending the Women for Obama Luncheon on February 23rd at the Hyatt Regency. Lunch costs $150 and includes remarks from our friends the Reverend Willie Barrow and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. To reserve your seat please call the campaign office headquarters at 312-427-6400 or log on to the Obama for Illinois Website.

I urge you to stand with me and support my husband at this event. You know the stakes have never been higher and we can’t depend on untested amateurs and administrators in this fight. Barack is a fighter and he will be a champion we can be proud of.

Thanks you so much for all of your support.

Obama pulled a Janet Napolitano today. Napolitano never apologized for the intent of the report and still-official government stance that the Obama Administration views returning soldiers (as well as any other "right-winger") as "possible terrorists" and members of bona fide hate organizations (this includes those that are pro-life and anti-abortion). Napolitano never apologized - as the media said she did. Napolitano only regretted the report had been worded in that fashion. Napolitano never apologized for the report's wild and extreme contents.

So, too, with Obama and his principles. He has absolutely no intention, as he made clear throughout his speech today, of ever considering the other side of the issue with what he calls a "fair mind". He expects Catholics, Christians, and pro-lifers to accept his principles which include third trimester abortions without parental consent for underage girls. The "fair minded" story was his smoke screen, his heart-tugger, his fait accompli, his coup de grĂ¢ce.

Obama used this university, specifically Father Jenkins, who was enough of an Obama-idealogue to extend the invitation to the Propagandist-in-Chief in the first place with full knowledge Obama supports late-term abortion (recall the appointment of Kathleen Sebelius, another late-term abortion supporter). Those are the people Obama counts upon to push his radical agenda forward. Those of ignorant and dangerously (politically) hobbled mind.
