Newsbusters - Wallace Has 'A Very Friendly Exchange' With Obama
"After all, since Wallace is indeed one of the best interviewers on television today..."
Nope. Not buying this view of Wallace.
Wallace Scolds Fox & Friends Crew for Excessive Obama Bashing, 21Mar08
From the article, "...before allowing any of the co-hosts to ask him a question, he actually admonished them for spending too much time in the first two hours of the show on Barack Obama's "typical white person" remark."
Wallace said, "Hey listen, I love you guys but I want to take you to task if I may, respectfully, for a moment. I have been watching the show since 6:00 this morning when I got up, and it seems to me that two hours of Obama bashing on this typical white person remark is somewhat excessive and frankly I think you’re somewhat distorting what Obama had to say.
[...]
Far be it for me to be a spokesman for the Obama campaign, and I will tell you that they would laugh at that characterization, but you know, the fact is that after giving a speech on race earlier this week, on Tuesday, he gave a major speech on Iraq on Wednesday and a major speech on the economy yesterday. And so, I think they would say that in terms of deflecting attention away from the issues people really want to hear about, maybe it’s the media doing it, not Barack Obama."
When Wallace came onto the program that morning, he announced he had been watching the whole program for two hours.
When Brian Kilmeade, after having been scolded for not playing the entire "Typical White Person" clip (the Fox and Friends always read the entire quote each time the clip was played), asked Wallace if, since he had been watching the entire program for two hours, saw him (Kilmeade) take the opposite view, Wallace replied he had not seen that as he hadn't really watched the entire program, he had only hit "update" twenty times.
When asked again by the Fox and Friends if he would then revise his opinion, especially now knowing he had not seen the program in its entirety as he said he had, Wallace put his hand in the air and said, "I heard enough!"
He only had heard half the story, admittedly, and went off on his unnecessary and belligerent tirade without knowing all the facts. And, even when confronted with the fact that he lied about the length of time he had been watching the program, it didn't matter to him, Wallace had "heard enough!"
Wallace was thanked by The Left and by the Obama campaign, "We appreciate Chris Wallace for doing his job as a tough but fair journalist on a network that has been deeply irresponsible over the last week in its unrelenting and sensationalistic coverage of Senator Obama."
Given that Wallace wanted to silence the Fox & Friends for discussing the legitimate point, that of Obama's blatant and casually-used racist comment, "typical white person," the Wallace/Obama interview will be just as softball as the Moyers/Wright interview of Friday last, if not moreso, as Wallace's past behavior demonstrates his being in the tank for Obama, too.
I sincerely hope Wallace asked Obama some tough questions about his sworn allegiance to Black Liberation Theology, asked Obama about Black Liberation Theology being his personal and foundational philosophy, questions Obama has steadfastly refused to answer in the past.
A man's faith is usually the foundation for his beliefs. Obama has stated his faith is strong, real, and profound. That his faith guides him in life. By his own admission, Obama's faith is Black Liberation Theology.
The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr James Cone’s book, "Black Power and Black Theology". The following are the writings of Jeremiah Wright:
"We [African Americans] were always seen as objects. When we started defining ourselves, it scared those who try to control others by naming them and defining them for them; Oppressors do not like “others” defining themselves."
"To have a church whose theological perspective starts from the vantage point of Black liberation theology being its center, is not to say that African or African American people are superior to any one else."
"African-centered thought, unlike Eurocentrism, does not assume superiority and look at everyone else as being inferior."
Dr James Hal Cone, the revered founder of Black Liberation Theology, writes:
"Theologically, Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man 'the devil.' The white structure of this American society, personified in every racist, must be at least part of what the New Testament meant by demonic forces... Ironically, the man who enslaves another enslaves himself... To be free to do what I will in relation to another is to be in bondage to the law of least resistance. This is the bondage of racism. Racism is that bondage in which whites are free to beat, rape, or kill blacks. About thirty years ago it was acceptable to lynch a black man by hanging him from a tree; but today whites destroy him by crowding him into a ghetto and letting filth and despair put the final touches on death."
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him."
"All white men are responsible for white oppression."
"While it is true that blacks do hate whites, black hatred is not racism."
"Theologically, Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man "the devil.""
"The black theologian must reject any conception of God which stifles black self-determination by picturing God as a God of all peoples."
"We have had too much of white love, the love that tells blacks to turn the other cheek and go the second mile. What we need is the divine love as expressed in black power, which is the power of blacks to destroy their oppressors, here and now, by any means at their disposal."
"In the white community, the path to a more perfect union means acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination - and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past - are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds - by investing in our schools and our communities; by enforcing our civil rights laws and ensuring fairness in our criminal justice system; by providing this generation with ladders of opportunity that were unavailable for previous generations." - Barack Obama, "A More Perfect Union" Speech, 18Mar08
Did it escape everyone that listened to this speech that Barack Obama is calling on white America to repair the problems created by others? Barack Obama, in this one paragraph, said white America continues to discriminate against black America. In words and deeds. That white America should acknowledge black America has NOT brought the problems of their community unto themselves but at the words and deeds of white America; that white America must invest white American time and white American money in schools and communities. That white America must enforce civil rights laws, that white America should ensure fairness in the criminal justice system, and white America should provide black America with ladders of opportunity that were unavailable for previous generations of black America.
Has Obama been an American living in America for long? How can Obama overlook the overwhelming advantages given specifically and only to the black community over the past forty years? No. Obama and his wife, Michelle, were able to completely take advantage of every opportunity freely given and afforded them by the United States government and Affirmative Action in their privileged and affluent lives. Why? Could it be because Obama and Michelle learned how to work the system, specifically designed to assist them as "minority" citizens, through self-determination and self-initiative all the way to success? Most likely. There are hundreds of government programs geared specifically to members of "minorities" that give grants for education and business. These programs have been in place since the 1960s. Those resourceful enough to learn about and take advantage of these programs succeed. Those that don't - complain and cry "victim!"
Obama is dutifully following, to the letter, the teachings of Black Liberation Theology which is taught and preached in his church.
"The central objective in decolonising the African mind is to overthrow the authority which alien traditions exercise over the African. This demands the dismantling of white supremacist beliefs, and the structures which uphold them, in every area of African life. It must be stressed, however, that decolonisation does not mean ignorance of foreign traditions; it simply means denial of their authority and withdrawal of allegiance from them." - Chinweizu -
"African Centered Education is a system of sequentially planned educational opportunities provided for African heritage children, youth and young adults to develop the necessary and required skills to participate in the global marketplace with specific interest on the upliftment and empowerment of their African-American communities and the total development and growth of the African continent." - Dr E. Curtis Alexander -
According to his website, Obama plans to double funding for the main federal support for afterschool programs, the 21st Century Learning Centers program, which will serve one million more children. His "STEP UP" plan addresses the achievement gap by supporting summer learning opportunities for disadvantaged children through partnerships between local schools and community organizations. As Obama has sworn to uphold the teachings and tenants of Black Liberation Theology, will African Centered Education be part of this study?
