Oh-Oh-Oh-Obama... Soooo Close
Did you listen? Did you really listen to Barack Obama's denouncement of Jeremiah Wright's comments yesterday (29 April 2008)?
Wait a minute. You were pretty sure, just as the elite media was pretty sure in their reporting this morning, that Obama denounced Jeremiah Wright - The Man.
Nope. Didn't happen.
At the Q&A point in his foray behind the podium, Obama said, "And what I think particularly angered me was his suggestion somehow that my previous denunciation of his remarks were somehow political posturing. Anybody who knows me and knows what I am about knows that I am about trying to bridge gaps and that I see the commonality in all people."
Did you hear it? He began to say "him" but stopped, paused, thought for a moment, re-engaged his voice and said, "his remarks."
Kinda interesting, isn't it? I thought so.
Obama just can't bring himself to cut his ties to Jeremiah Wright. Is the reason something deeply personal or deeply political? Perhaps we'll never really know, but we do know this... Obama will only denounce Jeremiah Wright's statements.
Maybe Jeremiah Wright really is a crazy Uncle. One in dire need of in-patient, long-term mental health care. Sure looks that way from the vile lies he spews, however; in this political climate, at this most important time in the campaign, and Obama having this darkest of clouds constantly looming over his head, Wright is causing no end of justified questioning from reporters and supporters, Obama's ability to maintain his ease and grace under this unexpected and heavy pressure may be extremely tenuous.
Let's face it, when the person you've admired for over twenty years, shared the most intimate details of your life, your married life, your hopes, dreams, and fears suddenly betrays you and throws into public perception that "Obama's just another politician saying what politicians need to say" because they were gently nudged aside and kept in the basement because that person really is a crazy Uncle, it's got to take a devastating toll on your psyche and self-confidence.
Obama said, "... [Wright] equates the United States wartime efforts with terrorism... [Wright's comments] offend me. They rightly offend all Americans. And they should be denounced. And that’s what I’m doing very clearly and unequivocally here today."
You're absolutely right in feeling offense at those comments of Wright's. You're absolutely correct. And you're also correct that all Americans took offense when Wright said those words, too. Your unequivocal denouncement was sorely needed and gratefully received, finally.
But, Obama? Isn't equating the United States wartime efforts with terrorism the defining (irrational) idea of the extreme left to which you belong? Isn't that the motto emblazoned on the leftist standard? Isn't that what your cohorts at the Daily Kos, Democratic Underground, Media Matters, MSNBC (especially Keith Olbermann), NBC, CNN, PBS, NPR, ABC, CBS, and countless leftist newspapers and their journalists, blogs, webcasts, and elitist radio stations repeat day after day after day? That is, and always has been, the extreme left's main talking point, correct? The "moral equivalence" between the current Administration and radical Muslim extremists that murder innocent women and children and civilians and use them as human shields? The same radical Muslim extremists that behead their hostages?
Perhaps Obama didn't think too far into the future, or maybe he did and retained these extreme, destructive, and criminal people in his life to appease the extreme leftists that gave him his political start. The extreme left admires these (lack of) character traits in people and actively seeks them out to aid in the round-up the hobbled minds and those easily swayed by light propaganda to increase their troop levels in their perceived war against the fascist terrorist government of United States.
Hmmm. Obama did insert himself into the extreme left wing of the Democratic party knowingly and by choice. That, too, makes it very difficult to separate Obama from Wright. And the fact that Obama will not denounce Wright, The Man.
You've made (chosen) your bed, Obama, now, lie in it. And, good luck with your campaign!
