Rev Jeremiah Wright - The Weakest and Most Pathetic Attempt at Rationalization and Justification
Factor wild irrationality into the minds of The Chicago Tribune's Lawrence Korb and Ian Moss for even thinking to write the above-linked article.
Wright, who, in 1961, chose to give up the student deferment offered to him by the United States government in return for his voluntary service in the recently integrated military, left a college he was free to attend, and voluntarily joined the Marines.
Wright, who, in 1963, having completed his brief two years of voluntary service in the Marines, seized another opportunity given to him by the United States government and volunteered again, by his own choice, to become a Navy corpsman, a field in which he had no experience. He received no-cost training for the position, excelled in his studies, and was class valedictorian. As such, and, not surprisingly because he worked hard to achieve, he was given another opportunity and was assigned to the Navy's most premier facility and was made a member of the Commander-in-Chief's medical team, even caring for the then post-operative President. Based on his merit in this position, he received three letters of commendation.
Wright, after voluntarily completing his military service, freely resumed his college studies, then entered a seminary and was ultimately ordained a minister, eventually preaching to a large church in one of America's biggest cities.
Wright was absolutely free to choose his path in life. He was afforded, and took advantage of every opportunity his government gave to him. He succeeded in his life because of those opportunities.
The United States government paid for his college, paid for his training, paid for his seminary instruction. Without reservation or hindrance of any kind.
Yet Wright's personal hate for his government has been preached to, and accepted by, his congregation for over thirty years. Wright's personal hate for white America has been preached to, and accepted by, his congregation for over thirty years.
In the above article there is absolutely no mention of his ever being oppressed, discriminated against, held back, denied, or unfairly treated in any manner, shape, or form.
Why would such a man, who otherwise would be grateful for all his country freely afforded him and of which he freely took complete advantage, turn a blind eye to the overwhelming successes over the past thirty years in terms of race and race relations and choose instead to preach about an America that no longer exists, and has not existed, for over thirty years? Why would his congregation not condemn him for his living in the past? Why would his congregation agree with his every hate-filled and/or racist sermon?
The pastor and members of Trinity United Church of Christ swear to uphold, in every aspect of their lives, Black Liberation Theology and The Black Value System, based on the writings of Dr. James Cone.
James Cone on Black Liberation Theology

According to Dr James Cone, Black Liberation Theology is completely predicated on the issue that Dr Cone disagrees with two-thousand-years of Europeans depicting Jesus as a light-skinned man, something with which they were most familiar, in practicing their Christian religions. Dr Cone feels Blacks have been denied the "true" depiction of Christ (Christianity being in the Black community only the last 250 years) as the black man he was in practicing their Christianity.
Obama's Church Pushes Controversial Doctrines
Jesus is black. Merging Marxism with Christian Gospel may show the way to a better tomorrow. The white church in America is the Antichrist because it supported slavery and segregation.
Those are some of the more provocative doctrines that animate the theology at the core of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Barack Obama's church.
The Peculiar Theology of Black Liberation
Senator Barack Obama is not a Muslim, contrary to invidious rumors. But he belongs to a Christian church whose doctrine casts Jesus Christ as a "black messiah" and blacks as "the chosen people". At best, this is a radically different kind of Christianity than most Americans acknowledge; at worst it is an ethnocentric heresy.
What played out last week on America's television screens was a clash of two irreconcilable cultures, the posture of "black liberation theology" and the mainstream American understanding of Christianity. Obama, who presented himself as a unifying figure, now seems rather the living embodiment of the clash.
Wright is a hate-filled and racist man living in the past because of his own refusal to see the vast and positive changes in American society which were begun and implemented, as law, over forty years ago. No matter what this racist bigot wraps himself in, including the American flag, he will always be a racist. That his congregation accepts his lies is another matter. That Barack Obama sat in the pews of Wright's church for over twenty years, with his family, nodding and smiling without ever once challenging the shameful anti-American and racist beliefs his pastor was freely preaching is of the utmost importance to the American people. Obama has said his faith is his foundation. Well, that faith is the Black Liberation Theology and its foundation is wholly racist.
