Ensign Wants Fired U.S. Attorney's Reputation Restored

I guess a little of "normal American life" isn't easy for the government employees (and I used to be one) that are let go. They thought they had a job-for-life when they became Presidential appointees. I believe they have that confused with signing up for civil service. Well... nuh-uh. Uh huh. There is a HUGE difference between being a run-of-the-mill civil servant and being a Presidential appointee. BIG difference.

What is it about "serving at the pleasure of the President of the United States" they don't understand?

Just like in big business, if there is no contract between you and your employer, you can be let go for any reason, or no reason at all, the employer not culpable for a thing.

You've been let go! Get on with your life. The unemployment office is right over there... it'll be two weeks you're without money, though, it's called a waiting period.

Ensign and all these others calling for Gonzalez to apologize, or reinstate attorneys, or be fired himself are fooling themselves and, as usual, making themselves out to be fools.

They "serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States".

Understand it... and stop all the hoopla about this. You're spinning your wheels.

NOTHING has ever been said about these US Attorney's being incompetent or anything else. They've simply been let go. That's not to say they wouldn't be wonderful in another legal capacity elsewhere, but, as far as the President was concerned, they had fulfilled their usefulness, and now, are no longer required. Simple. No one has besmirched their reputations. That's all a figment of Senator John Ensign's (R-Nev) imagination.

I'm starting to wonder about these politicos from Nevada and their ability to discern fact from fiction. All of them. From Reid to Ensign. Is it something lingering in the air from the bomb tests in the 50s? Perhaps. *grin*

The joke around my office was if you could hold a pencil and not drop it for five seconds, you could be a civil servant. And, that if you did drop it, they'd blame your boss for not providing you with a "proper" pencil; one that had gone through years of rigorous testing, ergonomic studies, control groups, and finally, flight tested -- then they promote you and the boss misses an important step increase in pay because of this error when his performance evaluation is rated "poor". "Promote the garbage," was another big joke that was so tongue-in-cheek. They'd refuse promotions to people that deserved recognition and forward movement because they needed to keep the "intelligent" in the office to save them from the idiots and malcontents they keep promoting for political reasons. It's everywhere, sadly.

And these continued tantrums by the Left and those they can suck in... they are tantrums. Just like spolied little children that "didn't get one, too." Disgusting behavior for adults, though. Grow the hell up. The lot of you. You knew the circumstances of your position and accepted them when you were sworn in. Playing stupid now just calls into question your actual intelligence, so, I think letting you go from your positions may have been exactly the correct thing to do. Good grief!
